There are multiple components to your roof, and within them there are distinguishing factors that your roofing contractor will inspect to determine any signs of damage. Here are a few of the components.

Vents: Improper seals or placement
Underlayment: Lack of water barrier
Attic Insulation: Wet, displaced
Flashing: Dents, missing pieces, torn pieces, loss of sealant, corrosion

If you notice any curled or cracked shingles this may indicate aging or damage and needs to be inspected.
